Concerned the advert was sending out a dangerous message, a petition was started by three students – Gabriella Kountourides, Laura Ferris and Frances Black.

The petition was signed by more than 27,000 people – calling for a change in the way women’s bodies are represented by advertising and the media. Now lingerie brand Curvy Kate have recreated the image using ‘real women’.

The photograph, which depicts women of varying body shapes, is captioned ‘The perfect body – every body is beautiful’.
